What is Renewable Diesel?
Made from fats, oils, and greases (like soy and canola), renewable diesel is a hydrocarbon replacement fuel that is chemically the same as traditional petroleum diesel. Processed via hydrotreating which involves refining and treating the biomass components with hydrogen under high heat and pressure, removing oxygen and other impurities, renewable diesel is efficient and easy-to-use. It is not the same fuel as biodiesel which requires blending petroleum diesel to be usable in vehicles.
Because renewable diesel is chemically the same as traditional diesel, converting requires no infrastructure changes to your operation or your fleet. Renewable diesel is so similar to petroleum diesel that you can switch between renewable and conventional diesels between fuel services if you are in an emergency without harming your engine.
