How Booster Prepares Drivers For a Tech-Forward Future

Truck drivers have long been the backbone of the global economy, quietly enabling everything from grocery store shelves to construction projects. Even as many industries move towards automation and reshaping how they approach logistics, drivers are very much still in demand. At Booster, we consider our Smart Tanker drivers a vital piece of the customer service puzzle, redefining their profession and elevating it beyond simple point-A-to-point-B transportation into a more complex, resilient, and indispensable function within our company.

As Booster has grown over the past ten years, we’ve been able to create jobs locally within each of our markets. Just this past quarter, we welcomed more than 45 applicants for open tanker truck driving positions in the Van Nuys and San Jose regions of California where our team is growing steadily. The jobs we bring to these communities are great opportunities for growth and with each new hire, we commit to on-the-ground training that equips them with the kind of tech skills that help them grow professionally for as long as they work with us and beyond.

How Booster Leverages In-Person Hiring in California

Booster regularly recruits experienced drivers through in-person events and live interviews on the west coast, most recently in California. Applicants pre-register to reserve their spot and come prepared with their CDL licenses and Class X endorsements. Events like these are held alongside other local companies and attract people from all backgrounds. Our registered applicants are guaranteed a meeting with our recruiters. Through these one-on-one conversations, we can get a clear picture of their experience, communication skills, and personality. When we find people who match our needs, we’re able to fill positions quickly, which is why we love these in-person events. In March, we had seven open positions that we were able to fill directly from the event – they’re already being on-boarded now.

Booster understands how valuable good drivers are for our company. We’re training our team to be part of the future with new skills that compliment a supply chain that continues to streamline and digitize. And we’re proud to bring these stable jobs with benefits to the communities we serve. In California, we hope to continue growing in the area. How Booster Trains Drivers for a Tech-Enabled Future

The role of truck drivers isn’t shrinking – it’s evolving. Drivers are increasingly expected to interact with advanced logistics platforms, manage digital documentation, and coordinate with dispatch systems all from a mobile device. This often means upskilling, learning how to integrate new digital tools into their day-to-day work, and expanding their familiarity and comfort with technology that makes their work more efficient and easier.

Booster’s Smart Tankers require drivers who are comfortable navigating our internal technology platform, advanced integrated telematics, and digital team management tools to make sure their shifts are recorded and routes are efficient. On the client side, they play a crucial part in delivering a Perfect Boost every time.

This integration of technology turns our drivers into skilled operators within a broader technological ecosystem. Rather than be replaced, many become even more valuable as hybrid professionals with hands-on expertise with digital fluency. We offer career growth beyond the road, and have had our drivers grow into sales and operational roles they maintain for years. Fleets that recognize and invest in these flexible and constantly evolving teams will see improved performance, stronger retention, and greater operational resilience.

Creating Driver Jobs with Resiliency as Fleet Technology Evolves

While technology evolves, and more can be done autonomously, the unpredictability of the real world now means human drivers are still vitally necessary. While today’s tools excel in controlled environments, the open road and customer interactions present unpredictable variables that are difficult to fully automate. Weather changes, road construction, mechanical issues, and human behavior all require that snap decision-making power of a human being. Drivers make judgment calls in real time, adapting to conditions that algorithms struggle to interpret reliably.

Right now, truck drivers are an irreplaceable human element in any supply chain. Trust, accountability, and on-the-ground decision-making cannot be fully replicated by machines at this time. As technology advances, the most successful companies will be those that empower their teams from driver to management with better tools and data, finding new ways to use their experience to advance their business.
